The area will feature arts and crafts activities, entertainment, additional inflatables and demonstrations. Inside the cafeteria, complementary First Night family photographs will be taken. In addition, food will be available, provided by Newtown area restaurants.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “D.A.R.E. to Feel the Magic in 2014,” which combines the D.A.R.E. drug and alcohol awareness program with the urgent need to restock local food banks. “We think both are important,” said organizer Paul Salvatore. Proceeds will support the Newtown D.A.R.E. program in addition to the Bucks County Food Bank.
First Night attendees are encouraged to bring food items for a First Night 2014 Collection: peanut butter, jelly, juice, canned goods, tuna, cereal and canned pasta. The event’s main sponsors are 1st Federal of Bucks County (fireworks), Newtown Business Association (Main Stage), the Newtown Athletic Club (Kid’s Fest) and McCaffrey’s Market.
